Is 100% Pure Clean?

Yes, 100% Pure is a clean beauty brand. All 100% Pure™ formulations adhere to strict purity standards and don’t contain harsh or toxic ingredients.

About their nail polishes: Their nail polish shades are made without the 20 common toxins found in conventional formulas. However, some of them contain Aluminum Powder, Titanium Dioxide, Talc, and Styrene – ingredients that aren’t considered clean.

What “clean” means to us:
The term “clean beauty” isn’t regulated, which means brands can use labels like clean, natural, or green without clear standards.

For us, clean beauty means avoiding ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and formaldehyde that are known or suspected to negatively impact human health, animals, or the environment.

Is 100% Pure Organic?

While 100% Pure is not fully certified organic, the brand says its formulations adhere to strict purity standards and don’t contain harsh or toxic ingredients. Moreover, they source their pigments from fruit, vegetables, tea, and cocoa to avoid commonly used FD&C colorants and heavy metal dyes.

I did find “certified organic” on some of the ingredient lists, which I think means that some ingredients used in their products are certified organic.

This is how the brand defines “natural”: An ingredient or formula composed of plant, mineral, and/or marine vegetation that undergoes chemical changes due to biological processes such as fermentation, distillation, and cold processing.

Is 100% Pure Safe?

Based on the research I did through random sampling, most 100% PURE’s products are non-comedogenic. However, a few of them contain coconut oil, which is known for being comedogenic and could potentially clog pores. So, I recommend checking the ingredients of the specific product you want to purchase to be sure.

Non-comedogenic means a product is less likely to clog your pores, which can help prevent breakouts and blackheads. These products are a great choice for people with acne-prone or sensitive skin.

Is 100% Pure Sustainable?

Yes, 100% Pure is committed to sustainability. The brand ships orders in recyclable shipping boxes and protects products from damage with biodegradable packing peanuts made from corn starch.

Additionally, the brand uses recycled glass containers and post-consumer recycled plastic for some of its products. They also embrace pre-cycling to reduce waste before it’s created.

This strategy includes repurposing unused surplus packaging. Additionally, their CA headquarters has been awarded the “Green Business Certification,” and they’ve planted hundreds of thousands of trees with Trees for the Future.

Is 100% Pure Socially Responsible?

Yes, 100% Pure is socially responsible. Customers can choose where their donation goes at checkout. For every order, the brand donates the cost of 1 tree to the charity Trees for the Future or one bowl of dog food.

The brand has partnered with a local factory to produce nutritious vegan dog food. The dog food that their customers donate is delivered and fed to dogs at local shelters.

Similarly, Trees for the Future partners with families and farmers in poverty to plan the growth of beneficial trees for their community.

Additionally, 100% PURE is currently working on multiple projects through inspiring and innovative partnerships.

Does 100% Pure Source Ingredients Ethically?

The brand shares that they go through a painstaking process to make sure each ingredient sourced is never animal-sourced and that all 100% Pure™ formulas are biodegradable, meaning they are non-toxic and safe for our planet’s delicate ecosystems.

While this says something about ethical sourcing – and sounds very positive – I couldn’t find any information on ethical labor practices or mica mining, for example.

Is 100% Pure Environmentally Certified?

100% Pure’s CA headquarters has been awarded the “Green Business Certification.” GBCI independently verifies sustainability performance against globally recognized standards.

We check whether 100% Pure has any recognized environmental or ethical certifications. This includes sustainability-focused labels like COSMOS, Climate Neutral, and 1% for the Planet, and broader ethical certifications like Fair Trade and B Corp.
