If you wonder, “Is Junoco cruelty-free?”, you’re in the right place. At Conscious Bunny, we go beyond just cruelty-free claims — we also check if a brand is vegan, clean, ethical, and sustainable. Below, find everything you need to decide if Junoco fits your conscious beauty values.
Is Junoco Cruelty-Free?
It’s currently unclear whether or not Junoco is truly cruelty-free, since they haven’t provided any information.
The brand says: “All our products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. We’re committed to offering plant-based formulations that are kind to both your skin and the planet.” However, they do not provide any information about their suppliers or third-party animal testing.
I have contacted Junoco to clarify their animal-testing policies and whether they’re cruelty-free, and their response was: “At this time, we’re not participating in external editorial features, but we’re flattered by your interest and wish you the very best with your article and continued growth of your platform.”
I’ve responded to them by saying: “This isn’t a sponsored or promotional feature of any kind. I simply want to verify a few details directly from the source so I can ensure I’m sharing accurate and up-to-date information with my readers. Since your website mentions that JUNOCO is cruelty-free, I’d love to confirm that with you directly, as transparency is very important to my audience.”
Sadly, they no longer responded, so I couldn’t verify their claims. Honestly, I’m kinda disappointed that the brand did not want to answer my questions, and it does feel like a lack of transparency.
Is Junoco Owned By A Cruelty-Free Parent Company?
Junoco is not owned by a parent company that tests on animals.
Many brands are owned by larger companies (we call them parent companies) like L’Oréal, Estée Lauder, or Procter & Gamble—some of which still conduct animal testing.
Although the parent company may not be cruelty-free, some brands under their umbrella follow strict no-animal-testing policies and are considered cruelty-free.
Some consumers avoid brands with non-cruelty-free parents, while others support the cruelty-free brand itself. We provide this info so you can decide what feels right for you.
Is Junoco Cruelty-Free Certified?
No, Junoco is not certified by any organizations.
Companies can be fully cruelty-free without being certified, but certifications are a good indicator of their ethical practices. The most trusted organizations that give out certifications are PETA and Leaping Bunny.
Is Junoco Sold Where Animal Testing Is Required By Law?
It is currently unclear whether Junoco is available in countries where animal testing is required by law. I reached out to the brand and am waiting for their response.
According to this source, it looks like Junoco might be available in China: “In June 2019, JUNOCO established an office in Guangzhou, China. In August 2019, JUNOCO entered China’s mainstream e-commerce platform Tmall and also opened a flagship store.”
However, according to another source, the brand doesn’t have its own offline stores in China. But it has an authorized cooperative store that sells its products.
In countries like China, some cosmetics still face mandatory animal testing, especially when sold in physical stores.
China has historically required animal testing, but since 2023, brands can enter the Chinese market without funding animal testing. Just remember that while China is easing its rules, not all brands sold there are automatically cruelty-free. Read our detailed guide on Animal Testing Laws In China to learn more.
Is Junoco Vegan?
Junoco is 100% vegan, meaning none of its products contain animal-derived ingredients. However, I don’t think a brand can be vegan if we don’t know their entire animal testing policies.
A brand is considered 100% vegan when all its products contain no animal-derived ingredients. Some brands may offer only a selection of vegan products rather than a fully vegan lineup.
Check out our 100% Vegan Beauty Brands A-Z list, or use our free Vegan Ingredient Checker to determine whether a specific product contains animal-derived ingredients.
Is Junoco Vegan Certified?
Junoco is not certified vegan by any organizations.
To help you easily identify vegan brands, several organizations like Vegan Action, The Vegan Society, and The Vegetarian Society provide trusted certifications similar to cruelty-free certifications, like PETA and Leaping Bunny.
Is Junoco Clean?
Yes, Junoco is a clean beauty brand. However, I did find Phenoxyethanol, EDTA, and Disodium EDTA in some of their products – ingredients that aren’t considered clean.
What “clean” means to us:
The term “clean beauty” isn’t regulated, which means brands can use labels like clean, natural, or green without clear standards.
For us, clean beauty means avoiding ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and formaldehyde that are known or suspected to negatively impact human health, animals, or the environment.
Check out our Clean Beauty Brands A-Z list, or use our free Clean Ingredients Checker to determine whether a specific product contains toxic ingredients.
Is Junoco Organic?
While Junoco is not certified organic, they do use organic/plant-based formulations.
Is Junoco Safe?
Everyone’s skin is different, and no product is completely risk-free. However, here’s what we found about Junoco when it comes to common concerns like breakouts, allergies, and irritants.
*This information is not medical advice. If you have allergies or sensitivities, consult with your doctor or dermatologist before using new products.
Is Junoco Fragrance-Free?
No, Junoco is not fragrance-free.
Is Junoco Paraben-Free?
Yes, Junoco is paraben-free.
Is Junoco Gluten-Free?
No, Junoco is not fully gluten-free. According to the brand, while many of their products are gluten-free, the Cleansing Powder contains rice powder, which is not gluten-free. However, it does not clarify if shared machinery is used in production
Is Junoco Nut-Free?
No, Junoco is not nut-free. Some of their products contain Shea Butter and Sweet Almond Oil.
Is Junoco Talc-Free?
Yes, Junoco is talc-free.
If you’d like to learn more about the potential health risks of talc, feel free to read my in-depth article about talc in makeup.
Is Junoco Non-Comedogenic?
Based on the research I did through random sampling, Junoco’s products are non-comedogenic. However, I recommend checking the ingredients of the specific product you want to purchase to be sure.
Non-comedogenic means a product is less likely to clog your pores, which can help prevent breakouts and blackheads. These products are a great choice for people with acne-prone or sensitive skin.
Use our free Pore-Clogging Ingredients Checker to determine if a product is non-comedogenic or contains pore-clogging ingredients.
Is Junoco Ethical?
We’re all about supporting brands that walk the talk. To us, ethical or conscious brands demonstrate this through their actions, from environmental sustainability and ethical sourcing to social responsibility, transparency, and accountability.
If you care about making more conscious choices, we’ve researched and answered the key questions to help you find products that align with your values. Here’s what we found:
Where Is Junoco Manufactured?
Junoco’s products are manufactured in South Korea, Italy, the United States, and other locations.
We share this because manufacturing location can impact labor and environmental standards. If you’d like to learn more about this, please read This Is Why Where Your Beauty Products Are Made Matters.
Is Junoco Sustainable?
Yes, Junoco is somewhat committed to sustainability. Junoco’s refill system uses one jar for multiple products, so any refill pod can fit in any jar.
On its website, Junoco shows how customers can pop a new pod into their existing jars and lock it in to secure it. According to the brand, the refill pods are fully recyclable, and they help save 78% of plastic from the original packaging.
Is Junoco Socially Responsible?
It is unclear whether Junoco has been making efforts to be more socially responsible. There’s no information on their actions or projects they may support, etc.
Does Junoco Source Ingredients Ethically?
It’s been unclear whether Junoco sources its ingredients ethically, as there’s no information.
The only thing we know is that they’re using FSC-certified packaging, which means the materials are not coming from illegally harvested or degraded forests, and that the forests are managed in a way that maintains biodiversity and protects the environment.
However, this doesn’t say anything about the ingredient sourcing and labor practices.
Is Junoco Environmentally Certified?
While Junico isn’t officially environmentally certified, they use FSC-certified packaging.
We check whether Junoco has any recognized environmental or ethical certifications. This includes sustainability-focused labels like COSMOS, Climate Neutral, and 1% for the Planet, and broader ethical certifications like Fair Trade and B Corp.
